Allison Duran was awarded the Exemplary Frontier Public Health Nurse for 2018 at Public Health in the Rockies. She has been with the Nurse-Family Partnership® in Montezuma and Dolores Counties since 2003. She has recently joined Invest in Kids as a Nurse Consultant.
Allison started in Public Health in 2000 when the Health Department had just implemented NFP. As she was orienting, Allison gained a greater knowledge in what a difference the program would make with vulnerable first-time mothers and their babies. Allison knew that that she had found a career that aligned with her vision of how every interaction can make a difference. Allison has been privileged to work with NFP for 15 years both as a Nurse Home Visitor and as a Nurse Supervisor. Joining IIK has been true honor, their mission and vision of improving the health and well-being of vulnerable young children in Colorado is not taken lightly.
