Giving back to the communities in which they live and work is one of their five core values. Nelnet lives this value through charitable contributions to non-profit organizations within our communities, paid time off for associates to volunteer and serve on nonprofit boards, and matching associates’ charitable contributions. Each Nelnet office also gives back by coordinating supply drives and other fundraising activities for local causes. In 2004, The Nelnet Foundation was founded to further Nelnet’s charitable giving. The charitable priorities of the Nelnet Foundation are education, especially scholarships, youth programs, and supporting our communities.
Bill Munn, Nelnet’s General Counsel, along with his wife, Gina, first learned about Invest in Kids by attending a past gala. Bill was so impressed by the demonstrable impact of Invest in Kids that he brought his company, Nelnet, on as a Jane-A-Thon sponsor and ever since then they were hooked. Nelnet is proud to have continued their involvement since, as Invest in Kids’ mission to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable children and families in Colorado directly aligns with Nelnet’s philanthropic priorities. Mairead Safranek, Nelnet’s Senior Communications Specialist, shared that Nelnet is proud to support the immense good that IIK does in the community. Every year, Nelnet associates look forward to the Jane-A-Thon, as it’s a great way to get some exercise, tap into their competitive nature, and help raise funds for a wonderful cause.
